About Kenya Handmade

Hand-Carved Kenyan Artwork

This piece of Kisii stone Art is hand carved by the Kisii Tribesmen of Kenya.  The stone is initially shaped with a Panga or Adze.  Then the Knives and Bladed Tools are used to define the shape of the piece.  Sandpaper is used to polish and achieve the smooth finish.  Colored dyes are then applied to create these unique colors and designs. The craftsman uses a knife to engrave and further accent the art.
